POSITION SUMMARY for Nurse Manager of Behavioral Health:
Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating all phases of nursing care provided on each program. Determines staffing requirements and material resources necessary to provide care to the patients for each program. Provides supervision of, assesses and evaluates the competence and performance of the nursing personnel. Participate in the recruitment and community education process. Responsible for ensuring coordinated deliver of consumer care in accordance with established standards of care, mental health practice and facility policy, goals and objectives
Demonstrates expertise in mental health promotion and maintenance of high quality, comprehensive patient care.
Assumes responsibility for the counseling and evaluation of nursing staff in an objective, consistent and timely manner.
Anticipates and resolves staff conflict at the program level.
Provides direct supervision, guidance and support to nursing staff utilizing effective communication skills to address issues and seek feedback from staff.
Ensure nursing staff assignments for 24-hour coverage occurs daily
Maintains appropriate staffing patterns with the guidelines for assigned program to ensure optimum patient care and understanding FTE requirements for program and hospital.
Works effectively with the Program Director and Medical Director to monitor and evaluate program standards and guidelines.
Functions as liaison between physicians and nursing staff to ensure optimum patient care
EXPERIENCE for Nurse Manager of Behavioral Health
Required: Three or more years acute care behavioral health nursing management experience with demonstrated successful leadership ability.
Preferred: ANCC certification in Psych Mental Health Nursing.
EDUCATION
Required: Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing, Minimal of MSN.,
Preferred: M.S.N. and MBA in Healthcare Administration
LICENSURE
Required: Licensed, or eligible for licensure, in the state of Virginia, as a Registered Nurse (RN)
