We are in search of a Director, Lab Operations for a greatest Dialysis company in Central Florida.

The lab processes 100,000 tests/day in the core lab (~60M/year)
Staff: 200+ employees across clinical and non-clinical functions
Leadership: Two Lab Directors, each managing 2–5 direct reports
Salary range 140-170k depending on experience + 20% bonus.

Here's what you can expect as a Laboratory Operations Director :
The Director, Laboratory is responsible for the day to day technical and scientific operation of the laboratory and other duties as delegated by the Medical Director. The position provides for the overall operation, leadership, direction, and administration of the Clinical Laboratories in accordance with CAP, Federal and State regulations governing clinical laboratories. This position reports to the VP, Lab Operations.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Oversees operational and strategic objectives for the clinical laboratory
Manages laboratory lanes to budget through cost savings and productivity monitoring
Monitors and utilizes data to evaluate and drive business decisions for capital and teammate resources
Standardizes and ensures policy and procedures are current for services at lab locations and meet federal, state and local regulatory requirements
Facilitates communication between business lanes and shifts and across departments
Oversee the development and/or expansion of service lines and projects for long term planning for internal and external business opportunities ?
- Provides leadership to clinical lab teams
Provides guidance regarding strategies to continuously improve service offerings and support organization capabilities
Sets performance standards and utilizes influence to meet department and organization goals and initiatives
Drives engagement and a sense of belonging on the team
Mentors and develops leaders and emerging talent ?
- Oversee the training, competency and performance of laboratory testing by teammates to include recording and resulting tests accurately to assure compliance with applicable regulations.
- Ensures quality control and quality assurance programs are established and maintained to assure quality of laboratory services provided
- Ensures good customer relations for internal and external customers, resolving problems in a timely manner
- Other duties as assigned.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, TRAINING, OR QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or related sciences required
Minimum 8yrs laboratory management experience of similar high complexity and volume of testing required
Intermediate computer skills and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook required
Master’s degree in business administration or relevant sciences ?
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS
Medical Technologist registry (ASCP, NCA, AAB or equivalent) required
Florida supervisor license preferred

Other qualifications required
Valid practitioner and supervisor licenses (multi-state licensure required) – FL Supervisor License (if you don’t have, you will need to get if they move to FL)

Current Projects
- The lab is undergoing a major platform conversion in the Waters Department (endotoxin testing).
- Candidates with experience in platform transitions or system implementations will be highly valued.
Additional initiatives and department-level implementations are underway; comfort with change management and project execution is key.
