We are searching for a Nursing Department Manager, PICU FT Days for a Los Angeles CA region.

This position will manage an 8 bed PICU.  This is a Magnet recognized hospital with CCS designation.  The Nurse Manager will also cover the Pediatric Unit and as needed.  Work hours are approximately 9am – 5:30pm.

Salary: USD $155,600 – $201,300 / yr

There is the potential to earn up to a 15% bonus based off the annual salary.  The bonus amount is dependent on the performance of the medical center.

Job Summary:

Manages the delivery of nursing services and safe patient care within assigned department and across the continuum of care. Manages the delivery of services that add value and are integrated with nursing standards of practice, service priorities and performance/outcome measures, as well as with strategic, business, and organizational goals/objectives.

 

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

 

Experience

Minimum five (5) years of clinical nursing experience relevant to a given position/department required, including three (3) years of management, supervisory or leadership* experience.

 

Education

Academic degree in nursing required (Bachelors or Master's degree).

Graduate of accredited school of nursing.

BSN and National Health/Nursing Administration Certification or MSN are required for PICU and NICU Departments for facilities that are CCS certified or desire CCS certification.

 

License, Certification, Registration

Registered Nurse License (California)

Basic Life Support

 

Additional Requirements:

Previous experience with electronic medical record.

Master’s degree.

National Certification in specialty.

Minimum of three (3) years Pediatrics Intensive Care Unit in a Community level 2 PICU.

 

What are the 3-4 non-negotiable requirements of this position?

Required (non-negotiable)

  • CA RN license.
  • American Heart Association BLS.
  • NRP.
  • PALS.
  • CCRN (Peds).
  • BSN or MSN.
  • At minimum candidate needs to have 5 years of FT equivalent PICU.  At least 3 of these years need to be in a community hospital level II PICU to meet CCS requirement.  Experience must be current or very recent.
  • At minimum candidate needs to have 3 years of FT equivalent PICU Manager or Supervisor experience.  Charge Nurse experience doesn’t meet this requirement (also referred to as Clinical Coordinator).  Experience must be current or very recent.

 

What are the nice-to-have skills?

Preferred (not required)

  • MSN.
  • Management experience in a union environment.
