    UNIT DIRECTOR, SURGICAL ONCOLOGY/WOMEN'S HEALTH

    We are seeking Unit Director to oversee nursing and administrative operations in patient care areas that provide care for a variety of oncology and surgical patients including those with urological, gynecological, colorectal, head and neck, liver and pancreatic diseases. 56 total beds, 120 staff including two Assistant Unit Directors.

    The Surgical/ Oncology units (56 inpatient beds in private rooms) provide care for a variety of oncology and surgical patients including those with urological, gynecological, colorectal, head and neck, liver and pancreatic diseases. Complex wound care, ostomy care and tracheotomy care make patient education a priority for both the patients and their caregivers after discharge. Unit has the ability to admit patients requiring telemetry and/or continuous pulse oximetry.

    Multiple opportunities exist for nurses to coordinate innovative treatment modalities for the oncology patient population on this unit. Nurses are able to work in an area where a dynamic, interdisciplinary, supportive and healing approach is the focus.

    This unit provides the opportunity to work in a cutting edge environment were excellent care can be provided in a patient and family focused setting. Chemotherapy certification is available for staff RNs and is required for the staff who administer chemotherapy.

    In this role, the Unit Director will design and oversees nursing and administrative operations in large and / or multiple patient care areas. Accountable for the overall administrative planning and coordination of the staffing, fiscal and material resources on a 24-hour basis. Assists with the development and implementation of new programs and policies. Direct reports are typically supervisors and managers.

    Required Qualifications
    Progressive and recent nursing administration and leadership experience in an acute care unit in an academic medical center at the assistant nurse manager or above level (within the last 3-5 years)
    Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing required
    Registered Nurse in the State of California
    BLS by American Heart Association
    Strong hospital management experience, with progressive and in-depth expertise in patient care services. Knowledge of hospital / clinic operations in a hospital or medical center setting; knowledge of appropriate professional standards for the department and team
    Excellent communications and interpersonal skills to foster and promote an environment for effective communication and collaborative decision making across multiple units and disciplines
    Excellent leadership, fiscal and operations management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, management and staff from all disciplines. Ability to create and maintain a goal-oriented climate of teamwork, collaboration and consistent achievement of objectives
    Strong knowledge of relevant healthcare information technology and patient care workflows and processes
    Strong knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, as well as related legislative, accreditation, licensing and compliance environments

    Preferred Qualifications
    Masters Degree
    ANCC RN specialty certification in Nurse Executive or Nurse Executive-Advanced
    Require License/Certification
    Registered Nurse in the State of California
    BLS by American Heart Association

    Progressive nursing admin/leadership, Asst. nurse manager experience or above within last 3-5 years)
    Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
    Registered Nurse in the State of California
    Current American Heart Association BLS certification

    COMPENSATION
    Base Salary - USD $232,000 to $247,000
