    1. Thoracic Surgery Nurse Practitioner II-FA

    Onsite

    Mon-Fri - 0730 - 1600 Standby required after hours Every 3rd weekend; When working weekend, Thurs/Fri off; Start time variable & rotated amongst the team from 7am-3:30pm, 7:30am-4pm, 8:30am-5pm

    Salary: USD $91.72 – $108.95 / hr

    Job Summary:

    The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is responsible for the assessment of selected patients in the designated service. The NP performs physical examinations, confers with patients in person and by phone/electronically, collaborates with others in the department to assure smooth flow of patient care consistent with established quality indicators and participates in the overall coordination of patient care. The NP reports to the Chief of the designated service and to the Department Manager.

    Qualifications:

    Basic Qualifications:

    Experience

    Minimum of 6 months experience as a nurse practitioner.

    Minimum two (2) years, within the past three (3) years of experience as a NP providing specialized care for persons requiring CV Surgery, Advanced Heart Failure management, Heart Transplant, and Left Ventricular Assist Device implant.

    Education

    Master’s degree in nursing (unless already a Kaiser Permanente employee who was grandfathered in prior to California Business and Professions Code requirement in January 1, 2008)

    Completion of a master’s program in Acute Care NP required

    License, Certification, Registration

    Nurse Practitioner Certificate (California)

    Nurse Practitioner Furnishing Number (California)

    Registered Nurse License (California)

    Nurse Practitioner National Certificate

    National Provider Identifier required at hire

    Basic Life Support

    Advanced Cardiac Life Support

    Preferred Qualifications:

    RN First Assist experience preferred.

    What are the 3-4 non-negotiable requirements of this position?

    Must have 2 years paid NP work experience in the cardio specialty.

    RN First Assist experience

    California NP license

    NPI

    What are the nice-to-have skills?

    hospital rounding and surgery work experience.

    OR First Assist work experience in Cardiovascular specialty

    Cardio clinic work experience highly preferred.

    Under the direction and supervision of staff Thoracic surgeon, the NP provides high quality cost-effective patient care by performing General Thoracic Surgery support to our surgeons with Robotics and a Full Scope of Thoracic Oncology Services.
