We are looking for an Echo Tech/Sonographer who will be reporting to the Director of Cardiopulmonary Services. The Echo Tech/Sonographer performs echocardiography and vascular ultrasound procedures for patients, as ordered by a healthcare provider.
Essential Duties for Echo Tech Include:
Performs ultrasonic diagnostic procedures as ordered by physician for patients.
Explains procedures to patients to assure cooperation and optimum test results.
Select appropriate transducers, depending upon depth of field, organ to be identified, etc.
Conducts scanning procedures using ultrasound equipment.
Make hard copy images as directed
Reschedule test, if necessary, due to difficulty from bowel gas, etc.
Accurately communicates and documents all treatments/procedures provided and patient's responses according to LMC policy.
Maintains confidentiality in all areas, including records on each patient under care.
All documentation is legible, appropriately reflecting the patient's condition, treatment provided, and patient response using measurable statements.
Consistently documents that the treatments/procedures given reflects the physician order and patients' clinical needs.
Consistently documents patient response to all therapy/treatment rendered; recommends revisions in treatment plans based on patient condition and response to treatment/therapy.
Consistently document patient/family responses to any teaching.
Communicates to nursing and/or medical staff observations related to patient condition, change in condition, and/or response to treatment according to policy.
Responsible for setting up, checking, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and reporting malfunctioning of all equipment necessary for treatment/therapy, including ventilators and CPAP units according to department policy.
Ensures emergencies are immediately and appropriately addressed according to LMC policy & procedure.
Verbalizes current knowledge of departmental Code Blue procedure.
Responds to all Code Blue/Trauma Code as assigned.
Report any problems or concerns to the supervisor immediately.
Demonstrates adequate communication skills, explaining to patients in understandable terms, the purpose & procedure to be implemented for all treatment/therapy.
Attends and participates in unit and hospital wide meetings as required by LMC policy and procedure.
Participates in quality improvement activities.
Attends all unit and hospital wide mandatory in-services.
Leads and supports special projects as required.
Demonstrates skill/knowledge in accordance with patients' age and developmental status when providing care.
Job Requirement for Echo Tech Include:
Must be a graduate or have a certificate of completion of a training program in echocardiography and/or non-invasive vascular ultrasound examinations.
R.D.M.S./R.T./R.D.C.S. CCI registration or eligible.
Able to pass a basic ECG course examination.
Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
Must have strong working knowledge of assisting physicians during invasive procedures.
