Our client, a 400+ bed hospital located between Pittsburgh and Hershey, PA, has a need for a Director of Women’s & Children’s Services to join their team. The Director will oversee around 100 FTEs and they do approximately 1500 deliveries a year.

Accountable for the overall operations, efficiency, quality and financial performance of assigned clinical areas in collaboration with the physician chairman and other key stakeholders. Works in collaboration with the Neonatal ICU’s Neonatologist and Pediatric Chair. Has the authority and responsibility to implement service- wide changes across departmental lines and provide internal and external communications regarding service line initiatives. Mobilizes and directs employee and physician teams to develop and achieve service line goals. Uses strategic planning/initiatives to improve patient care, efficiency and competitiveness across the system and to shape future strategy for the service line.
Directs the overall operations, efficiency, fiscal management and strategic planning of the assigned departments in the service line.
Develops and monitors budgets
Analyzes profit and loss statements
Determines root causes of budget variances and responds appropriately
Takes appropriate steps to continuously analyze and improve operations
Directs strategic planning activities
Utilizes Lean six sigma Performance Improvement processes/tools
Utilized Team STEPPS tools to facilitate coaching and communication.
Oversight of quality and safety initiatives for each department.
Improvement initiatives for patient and staff satisfaction.
Works collaboratively with the physician chairman and other key stakeholders in the service-line to develop short and long range goals for program enhancement
Facilitates the Department’s Performance Improvement process with a focus on patient, employee and physician satisfaction, as well as clinical quality and operational efficiency.
Demonstrates solid skills in all forms of communication. Works well with others and fosters a spirit of teamwork and cooperation.
Continually strives to increase market share, displaying a positive image in the community to ensure sound liaison relationships with referral sources.
Facilitates community outreach projects that enhance service line education, functions and awareness. Includes service line staff in planning and involvement of these projects.
Completes, analyzes and makes results-oriented recommendations based on data analysis.
Keeps abreast of community and national practice standards and emerging technologies.
Works with key stakeholders of the service line and Administration to evaluate/facilitate the need for providers in any area of responsible supervision.
Facilitates/prepares for department meetings, division meetings at all levels to provide/enhance service line communications.
Oversees the development and ensures the completion of Policies and Procedures for service line departments.
Enforces regulatory standards among service line departments and works with team members to educate and implement new policies. This would include the Department of Health and JCAHO bodies.
Required: Bachelor’s degree in health related field
Preferred: Masters level preparation preferred.
Required: Required minimum of three years experience in health care management.
Preferred: Outpatient experience preferred. Preferred experience in Woman/Child Service Line. Minimum of three years experience in direct patient care.
Required: License as required by degree.
Preferred: Certification in Woman/Child services area of practice
