Director of Med/Surg RN
The Director is responsible for the oversight of the Hospital's 3C Medical Surgical Unit and Ortho Units, and the Bone and Joint Center. The Director is accountable and responsible for the effective delivery of competent, compassionate, and efficient patient care in the Medical Unit This includes overall direction of clinical, human resources, and financial management. This position report directly to the Chief Nursing Officer. The Hospital is located in sunny Laredo, Texas, just 150 miles south of historic San Antonio. Manages and directs the daily operations of the patient care nursing unit to ensure the accomplishment of established departmental goals. Plans, delegates, and coordinates patient care to ensure that high quality patient care is rendered. Performs the duties of a R.N. as needed. Ensures the Code of Conduct is reflected in all aspects of the department's operation.

-3C is med surge Post op floor, surgical post op. – If a patient has a generalized surgery they will go there.
-Opened a Bone and Joint Center of Excellence in the past year.
-Leaders with Med/Surg and Surgical experience would be ideal
How many beds are on the unit?
-3C has a max of 38 beds.
-Staff Oversight of approx. 40, Nurse aids, Nurses, 1 Coordinator, *Charge RNs are working nurses too.
Qualification Requirements for Director of Med/Surg
Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing Program.
Required: BSN/MSN RNs must have a minimum of five (5) years acute care experience required. Preferred: Two (2) years of management or supervisory experience.
BSN degree is highly recommended, but ADN applicants may substitute a combined 12 or more years of acute care bedside nursing experience including 2 years at a supervisory level in lieu of BSN. The Hospital offers tuition reimbursement programs to support career advancement for BSN and MSN related degrees in nursing.
MSN or masters in related field preferred.
Must have a current license to practice professional nursing in the state for which you are applying (Texas). Current BCLS and ACLS upon hire.
