Position Description for Director of ICU

The job description and criteria-based job performance evaluation emphasizes the criteria expected in the performance of the Critical Care Services Director. The director is responsible for the provision of patient care, utilizing the nursing process as a framework. The director is also responsible for organizing and managing equipment and supplies, providing educational opportunities, and participating in the ongoing budgetary process.

The director works closely with the medical staff, as well as other professional staff, clinical staff, ancillary department members, visitors, families, and Administration. Intensive Care/ Progressive Care Unit Charge Nurse duties included.

Qualification for Director of Critical Care

Experience

* Minimum of 3-5 years clinical patient care experience in a relevant setting

* Minimum of 5-10 years of healthcare management experience

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

RN license in good standing in state of employment or a compact state, if applicable

Registered Nurse (RN) required

American Heart Association Basic Life Support
